What this actually is

This is a closed research test. It runs for about a week, with a couple of hundred adults who were sent a personal invitation, and it covers five footballers and ten qualities such as finishing and leadership. It is not a public website. It is not listed anywhere, it is kept out of search results deliberately, and nothing on it is advertised, promoted or sold.

We are trying to find out one thing: whether somebody who rates a footballer goes on to rate another. That is the entire purpose.

What we hold about you

Very little, and all of it is on the page you came from:

• Your name.
• One line saying who you are — your position and your club, in about six words.
• Ratings from 1 to 10, given by the people invited to the test, on qualities that are worded so the top of the scale is a compliment.

That is the lot. There is no photograph of you — where a picture would go, the site shows two initials. There is nothing about your private life, no article, no biography and no history. There are no comments and nowhere to write one: this test has no writing in it at all, only numbers. We hold no contact details for you and have not gone looking for any.

We do not host qualities that make an accusation, and there is no overall mark for a person. Each number is about one quality, and it is the average of what a group of people thought.

Tell us two things: the web address of the page, and whether you are the person on it or acting for them. That is enough to act on.

Please do not send anything else. We do not want your passport, your address, your date of birth or your phone number, and we will not ask for them unless there is a real doubt about who is writing — in which case we will say so and explain why. There is no account to create; there are no accounts on this site.

What happens next

1. We stop showing it first, and think afterwards. As soon as a request arrives we take the questions about you out of the test, before anyone has decided whether you are right. Being slow here is the whole of the harm, so we are not slow.
2. We reply, within one working day. To say we have it, what we have done already, and who is dealing with it.
3. We correct it or remove you, within five working days. A correction fixes the wording. A removal means nobody is asked about you again and the ratings already given are deleted, not archived.

We would rather remove you than argue with you. Nothing about this test depends on any particular footballer being in it.

None of this lasts long anyway

The test closes after about a week. Everything collected in it is deleted 30 days after that, and the whole environment it runs in is destroyed. It was built to be thrown away, and it will be.
